“Whenever Bajans come together as one, we succeed – and Barbados wins.”

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley

That belief sits at the heart of Mission Barbados.

To transform Barbados into a sustainable, prosperous, inclusive and resilient society. Barbadians must shift mindsets and engage as citizens and stakeholders in collaborating, innovating, and investing to shape Barbados’ future.

When we focus on what truly matters and pull together, we can transform our country for the better.

Launched in 2023, Mission Barbados is our shared national transformation roadmap to 2030—a bold, collective effort to build a society that is inclusive, sustainable, and prepared for the future.

Formally announced on May 1, 2023, Mission Barbados was introduced by our Social Partnership — the Government, the private sector, and the union movement — along with six national missions that define our path forward.

Six Goals. One Future

At the heart of Mission Barbados are six national missions, clear and ambitious goals that define where we want to be by 2030. Each mission addresses a real challenge facing our nation, focusing on the areas that will have the greatest impact on our people, our economy, and our future.

Sustainable Development

Lead in climate resilience and become 100% sustainable by 2035.

Social Cohesion and National Identity

Build a culture where every Bajan is confident, creative, and actively involved.

Food & Water Security

Ensure every household has access to clean water and healthy, affordable food.

Public Health & Public Safety

Cut crime and chronic disease in half; prioritise national wellness.

Worker Empowerment and Enfranchisement

Create pathways to ownership, reduce poverty, and promote economic dignity.

Digital Transformation

Make public services seamless and ensure meaningful digital access for all.

The Big Picture: Why we are doing this?

Barbados faces real, urgent challenges – from climate change and rising costs to unequal access to health, food, and digital services. Many Bajans feel disconnected from the systems that shape their lives.

Mission Barbados doesn’t ignore these problems – it faces them head-on, and turns them into opportunities. By focusing on a few big national goals and giving them our collective energy, we are able to do more, and do it better. This mission-driven approach is being used by leading governments worldwide – and now, it’s guiding ours.

Powered by the people

Mission Barbados is for everyone and built by everyone. From the start, it was shaped by voices across the country: unions, employers, community groups, civil society, and citizens. The result is a plan backed by the Social Partnership – the same alliance that’s helped Barbados navigate major moments in our history. This is a national effort. And when Bajans come together, we move mountains.
