Mission Barbados is driven by six bold national missions—clear, ambitious goals shaping where we aim to be by 2030. Each mission addresses a real challenge, and together they form the blueprint for the future of Barbados.
Sustainable Development
Barbados is leading the charge toward sustainability. This mission sets out to make all domestic activity 100% sustainable by 2035, protecting our coasts, reducing waste, and transitioning to renewable energy. As one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, we are choosing to lead with bold solutions that preserve our way of life and inspire others globally.
Social Cohesion and National Identity
This mission is about building a Barbados where everyone feels they have a voice and a role to play. Through civic education, youth programmes, community leadership and the arts, we are strengthening participation at every level. When more Bajans feel confident, creative, and connected, our country becomes stronger and more united.
Food and Water Security
We are securing access to clean water and nutritious, affordable food for all. This means boosting local agriculture, preparing for climate impacts, and improving how we manage and distribute resources. It’s about becoming more self-sufficient, more resilient, and making sure no household is left behind.
Public Health & Public Safety
This mission tackles two urgent issues, our rising rates of chronic illness and our concerns about crime and violence. The goal: reduce both by 50% by 2030. We are doing this by investing in prevention, strengthening healthcare access, promoting active lifestyles, and building safer communities that support both physical and mental wellbeing.
Worker Empowerment and Enfranchisement
Too many workers are underpaid, overstretched, or just getting by. This mission opens up real pathways to economic security through training, entrepreneurship, and shared ownership models. By reducing poverty and expanding access to opportunity, we can create a Barbados where more families can thrive with dignity and independence.
Digital Transformation
We are building a fully digital Barbados. One where services are smooth, systems work better, and no one is left behind. From expanding internet access to upgrading how public services are delivered, this mission makes life easier, faster, and more connected for all citizens—no matter where you live or how much you earn.
